how to reach your full potential

Are you having difficulty making the changes that are necessary to reach your full potential? Many people stumble over setting goals and taking the actions necessary to achieve them. This can come down to a lack of direction, not knowing where to start, or having difficulty overcoming perceived limitations. If you’re struggling to reach your full potential, however, there are a few key steps that you can take to overcome this.

1. Assess your goals and outline them

Do you have a clear idea of what you’re hoping to achieve in your life? One of the biggest hurdles people face when it comes to achieving their full potential is having a strong understanding of exactly what it is they want to achieve. It’s important to be specific. For example:

Rather than…                           You might put it like this…

Get fit                                              Be able to run 5 kilometres in under 25 minutes by next month

Lose weight                                     Reach my goal weight (of XX kilograms) by January 1st

Pay down debt                               Pay off my 2 x credit cards by Christmas

Be sure your goals are realistic, specific, measurable and time-specific. You’d be amazed just how much of a difference it makes to really sit down and think about what you want for your life.

2. Understand what’s stopping you

Why haven’t you reached those goals you set for yourself a year ago, or even 5, 10, 20 years ago? Have you taken a good look at the real reasons behind your struggle to find personal success? Often, it’s hard to look at our behaviours objectively, which means it can be difficult to spot the habits and ways of thinking that are stopping us from achieving our goals.

The trouble is, understanding these patterns can be difficult. That’s why it’s important to have some help from an objective, non-judgemental expert. An expert can help you to unpack your patterns and behaviours to discover things you’ve never realised about yourself. Be sure to speak with someone experienced in the area of personal development and empowerment. At Integrated Health Specialists, this is what we do best. In fact, we’ve developed the Personal Success Coaching Program specifically to assist you to reach your full potential and achieve success.

3. What limits have you been setting for yourself?

More often than not, the barriers we’ve set for ourselves are what is truly stopping us from reaching our potential for personal success. Have a think about some of the things you’ve always told yourself that might be holding you back. Things like ‘I can’t have a family and a successful career’ or ‘I’m not good enough at XYZ to really make a career out of it’.  Then, it’s important to understand where these thoughts or beliefs come from. Why have you always assumed that you couldn’t achieve something? You’d be surprised to find that most of these limitations are in your own mind. Unpacking these and dispelling these myths that have become ingrained in your thinking are a key element to unlocking your potential for success.

4. Tap into your potential

Once you’ve discovered what it is you really want out of life, how you define success, and unpacked what’s been stopping you, it’s time to unlock your true potential. This might sound easier said than done, but all it takes is the proper tools. With our Personal Success Coaching Program, we equip you with a set of powerful tools which will help you to unlock your true potential and overcome those hurdles that have been holding you back for years.

5. Keep at it

“Success is not final; failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts” – Winston Churchill

Success, however you define it, does not mean reaching a goal and then putting your feet up. Success is an ongoing project, and it’s important to maintain, reassess and keep striving. In fact, your definition of success will change throughout your life, as you reach goals you’ve set for yourself and reimagine what your personal success looks like.
