A Holistic Approach to Therapy & Wellness
Unresolved negative emotional states can lead to illness and dis-ease; unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses! From a holistic perspective, health is a state of balance that exists on three levels: body, mind, and spirit. Chronic dis-ease is a manifestation of unresolved or incomplete healing. Chemical, physical and psychological irritations create functional imbalances in your body, which, if not corrected, can lead to dis-ease. Symptoms are the expression of an issue that we have been ignoring, denying or repressing. Dis-ease is not something that happens to us but something that we create, albiet subconsciously. Illness is a message giving us a chance to look at our behaviour and the patterns in our lives, looking inwardly to see what our feelings are and what we want to do about them.
Recognising the meaning of our symptoms is the beginning of an important journey; the first step towards understanding ourselves more deeply. After that, needs to come the commitment to releasing the old and opening up to the new. We have to really want to get well; the body is trying to gain wholeness, to heal. Making a commitment to our own healing gives us the courage to change! The first step to successful treatment is finding the true cause of the imbalance, and then finding the least invasive therapy that can help your body to restore balance and health. Most of our emotional problems are caused by unresolved negative experiences or events in our lives that continue to impact us at an unconscious level.
This model illustrates what happens to give rise to negative outcomes in life, including illness and dis-ease (both physical and mental), and how we can go about managing and resolving current issues and preventing other issues in the future. We can do this by working on any one or more of the contributing factors that lead to the point of unresolved emotional states – causing either chaos and/or illness in one’s life. We can work directly on the conscious and/or repressed memories of negative events or experiences, and we can work with one’s negative thought patterns and belief systems, we can work directly with the body’s energy system, and also with the negative emotional states themselves.
Depending upon what issues are most prevalent, what symptoms are present, and what modalities are preferred by the client; a number of techniques are available to advance the healing process. As one factor is addressed, this will have a ‘domino effect’ upon the other factors as the mind and body respond to each other, demonstrating that emotional and psychological states translate into altered responses in the chemical balance of the body. As you resolve the emotional ‘baggage’ you are carrying, you will have less internal conflict for your system to deal with and profound physical healings can occur.
